Argentina’s Lionel Messi has won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2022 . Messi beat Paris Saint Germain (PSG) teammate Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema to lift the famous trophy at the Salle Play in Paris. Messi had 52 points, Mbappe 44 and Benzema 34 in the FIFA Awards vote. This is the second time Messi has won the honor, inaugurated by FIFA in 2016
Messi made his first appearance in FIFA in 2007. The former Barcelona captain was second only to Kaka in the FIFA World Player of the Year standings at the time. Fifteen years later, Messi was named FIFA Player of the Year for the seventh time on Tuesday in Paris. One of the most decorated players in the history of the beautiful game, Messi has now won the FIFA World Player of the Year title in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2023
